Monteith College

Monteith College, modeled on the College of the University of Chicago, was founded in 1959 and, until 1979, focused on offering students the feel of a small college within a larger university. The college was funded through a $700,000 grant from the Ford Foundation and a matching investment from Wayne State. Teams of faculty taught these courses, each individual bringing a different approach and background to bear upon a general topic or period.

Due largely to financial considerations, Monteith College began to be phased out in 1976 and closed permanently in 1979.

Hi, I don’t know if you can help me but my father was a professor at Monteith College and is having some difficulty determining who he should speak with regarding the collection of his retirement. If you have any contacts or know of a direction I should follow-up on please let me know. In any case a response would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Steve Cleary
